Guidance for Games played 2024 Regular
Season
The team at bat is to provide a player to server as the umpire
during each half inning.
This player is directed to stand off to the side of the plate.
He is to call balls & strikes. He should call out the count
after each pitch as we won't have a clicker.
This player is to also make all safe or out calls on the bases &
at the plate per our normal league rules.
The current number of outs should be called out after each
batter as again we won't have a clicker.
This year a strike will any pitch that hits the mat or the plate
including "the black" on the plate.
Pitchers are requested to NOT push the limits of the 12
foot arc or throw flat pitches as we do not have true umpires.
In the current environment where due to a lot of people working
from home we might at some games get a lot of players showing up
(we'll see). if you combine not being about to hang out after a
game having a few beers like in the old days with guys only
getting 2 at bats due to 15-16 players showing up that may kill
some enthusiasm for showing up.
So for the Regular Season at least (we can decide later about
the playoffs) let's give teams some additional flexibility.
IF BOTH teams want to do it, you have the option of
playing a 9 inning game with batters starting from a 1-1 count
as this format would get each team at least 6 more at bats.
If Both teams do not agree they want to play a game in
the that format, then the game is played in the league default
format of a 7 inning game with batters starting from a 0-0
count.

Guidance for Complying with NJ State
Guidance for Sports Activities in the age of Covid 19
The league will operate under the Guidance issued by the NJ
Department of Health.
Guidance can be found here:
Guidance for Sports Activities
Here are a couple things for coaches to note from the State
Guidelines.
Social Distancing
Ensure that athletes and coaches adhere to social distancing
while not actively involved in
practice activities (on the bench, in the dugout, etc.).
Consider assigning coaching staff to
monitor sideline social distancing.
The league's recommendation is to limit the players on deck & on
the bench to the next 3 people in the batting order following
the hitter. The rest of the team should spread out in areas
behind or to the side of the bench. On some fields this may
require using the foul territory down the baseline.
Cleaning of Equipment
If any equipment is provided by the operator, operators must
minimize equipment
sharing and clean and disinfect shared equipment at the end of a
practice session using
a product from the list of disinfectants meeting EPA criteria
for use against the novel
corona virus. Do not permit athletes to share food, beverages,
water bottles, towels,
pinnies, gloves, helmets or any other equipment or materials
that is involved in direct
bodily contact.
Spectators
Limit any nonessential visitors, spectators, staff,
volunteers, vendors, members of the
media, and activities involving external groups or organizations
as much as possible.
Visitors and spectators should wear face coverings at all times,
unless doing so would
inhibit the individual’s health or the individual is under the
age of two.
We will also follow any additional directives issued by the town
where a game is being played.
Several towns have already requested teams not hang around after
a game concludes.
Little Silver is not requiring this year the contact info &
temperature checks we had to do in 2020.
